For several years, here at Columbia H-D we’ve had containers sitting at the counter collecting spare change from customers to go toward a new flag pole. Now that flag pole will be completed this spring, we have decided to leave the containers out to raise money for a local charity.

Record-breaking charity ride for children of fallen veterans comes to Columbia Harley Davidson Vancouver WA July 28, 2015 1:00 PM
Vancouver, WA — Adam Sandoval and his Chihuahua, Scooter, have been riding their motorcycle over the past 175 days since embarking on their epic journey to visit every Harley-Davidson dealership in the lower 48 states. Known as Scootin’ America, the charity ride, created to raise money for the children of fallen soldiers, is now firmly on pace to break three world records; the most miles ridden in one country on a single run, the largest group ride and the longest charity ride in history.
Stopping only to sleep and avoid severe weather, the pair have been on the road virtually every day since they started November 10th of last year. To date, Adam and Scooter have visited over 260 dealerships, crossed 17 states and raised over $100,000 for The American Legion’s Legacy Fund, which helps to ensure that higher education is a possibility for children whose parents lost their lives for our country. Sandoval has self-funded the majority of the trip, using the proceeds from the sale of this his home, vehicles, etc. to finance the effort.
With roughly fourteen months left on their estimated two year trip, Sandoval has already encountered a great outpouring of support and has been genuinely moved by the compassion and support he has received. “I can’t begin to tell you how this ride has struck a chord with and brought out the best in people,” said Sandoval “in just a short time, we have been embraced by people in every city we have visited, and we’re just getting started,” he added.
In roughly two years time, Sandoval and Scooter will visit every one of 690+ Harley-Davidson dealerships. Along the way, other riders are encouraged to join the ride for the day and for as long as they like. Sandoval planned the ride to give back. Having personal regrets about not serving in the military, Sandoval now wants to apply his personal success as an entrepreneur toward his passion for the families of our fallen soldiers.
Green Bay natives, Adam and Scooter, moved to Florida 3 years ago to enjoy riding their motorcycle year round. This ride definitely fits that bill.
